Hail Mary

If You Loved the Martian, Read This Next

Hail Mary

Project Hail Mary is one of the most enjoyable science fiction books I have read in a long time. If you liked The Martian, this has the same mix of science, problem-solving, humor, and impossible situations—but with an even bigger story.

The book follows Ryland Grace, a science teacher who wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he is there. As his memory slowly returns, he realizes he may be humanity’s last chance to save Earth.

What makes this book great is that it balances real science with a genuinely fun story. It is full of clever engineering, chemistry, physics, and survival challenges, but it never feels like homework. The relationship between Grace and Rocky is one of the best parts of the book.

If you enjoy smart science fiction, problem-solving, and stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things, this is an easy recommendation.
