If your Vizio TV won’t turn on; no lights, no logo, no response to the remote, don’t throw it away just yet. In many cases, the problem is a failed power board, and the fix is far easier and cheaper than replacing the entire TV.
In this guide, I’ll walk through exactly how I diagnosed and fixed a Vizio V‑Series 50‑inch TV that appeared completely dead. This same process applies to many Vizio models and is one of the most common TV failures I see.

COMMON SYMPTOMS
• TV will not power on at all
• No standby light
• Power button on the back does nothing
• Remote does nothing
• Outlet confirmed working
STEP 1: CONFIRM THE PROBLEM
Before opening the TV, confirm the outlet works, the power cord is secure, and the rear power button does not respond.
STEP 2: REMOVE THE BACK COVER
Lay the TV face‑down on a soft surface. Remove all screws holding the rear panel. Before lifting the cover completely, unplug the small connector for the rear power button.
STEP 3: IDENTIFY THE POWER BOARD
The power board is the most common failure point when a TV is completely dead.
STEP 4: ORDER A REPLACEMENT BOARD
Match the exact part number printed on your board. Replacement boards are inexpensive compared to a new TV.
STEP 5: REMOVE THE OLD POWER BOARD
Disconnect wire harnesses, remove mounting screws, and lift the board out carefully.
STEP 6: INSTALL THE NEW POWER BOARD
Compare boards visually, install the new board, reinstall screws, and reconnect all harnesses.
OPTIONAL: REPLACE THE MAIN BOARD
If available, replacing the main board at the same time can eliminate additional troubleshooting.
STEP 7: TEST THE TV
Plug the TV in and confirm the Vizio logo appears and SmartCast boots normally.
FINAL THOUGHTS
A Vizio TV that won’t turn on is often not dead—it usually just needs a new power board. This repair takes less than 30 minutes and can save hundreds of dollars.
Good Luck!
